In this age in time “Food Shortage”
I’m appalled by this fiasco.
Which leads me to think of the ramifications.
Some of the interesting facts that can be observed here are.
1. Alcohol is being added to gasoline
2. Alcohol is produced from staple foods
3. Alcohol is becoming relatively cheaper to produce than gasoline at $ 200 a barrel at pre crisis rates
4. Alcohol can also be produced by GM staple foods
This leads to a number of questions.
a. Alcohol is being added to gasoline, is it to make a cleaner fuel or cheaper alternative? The question is, is either true?
b. With hunger not being eradicated from this world even in the 21st century is it a wise choice to use staple foods to run the gas guzzlers?
c. Now that the niche has been created for alcohol use in the automobile industry and it being politically correct we can comfortably rationalize our actions and it becomes OK to create more hungry people in the world. Is this what we want? Or is this what was being strategically planned?
d. So now that you dont have a choice the easiest alternative is to mass produce GM foods and I am sure we will deal with the consequences when we come to it, because now we have a bigger problem at hand and this is a reasonable alteranitive. Is this what we are working towards?
e. Not to mention all the precious rain forests that can now be easily converted into GM farms. We need staple food not only to live but also to drive. Is this what we want to do?
This begs the question isint it time to bring out the alternative technologies for transport….. or time to spent your resources in that direction rather than solving the food crisis that has been engineered and leave the earth barren for the future generations. So golbal warming will now be a lesser threat than we thought of.
